About
SciDr is a private and focused PDF reader designed to help you read more research papers, books, and documents. Choose PDFs or a folder through Files and switch between documents within SciDr. Chapter reading modes make large PDFs easier to navigate, while the document outline lets you jump directly to chapters and sections. Turn on Paper Pressing to build a feed of passages, figures, and tables from across your library. Processing happens on your device, and snippets appear progressively. Open a snippet’s source paper at the relevant page, or expand it for focused reading and related recommendations. BUILT FOR ACTIVE READING • Discover material across papers without opening each PDF individually • Personalize your feed by liking, disliking, saving, or hiding snippets • Filter by paper, topic, and content type • Search your library and jump directly to matching pages • Create snippets from selected text or marked figures • Add notes and organize saved material into projects • Track reading activity and revisit previously discovered ideas • Export notes and snippets as Markdown or create a portable JSON backup UNDERSTAND MORE OF EACH PAPER SciDr uses native PDF text extraction, layout detection, and optional OCR to find readable passages, captions, figures, and tables. Optional on-device language features can clean up extracted content and add research context on supported devices. Because analysis happens privately on your device, results may vary with PDF quality and layout. Clear, text-based research PDFs work best; scanned or unusually formatted documents may produce fewer or less precise snippets. SciDr always keeps the original paper available so you can verify wording and context. PRIVATE BY DESIGN SciDr processes your papers on your iPad. It has no accounts or advertising, does not collect analytics or tracking data, and does not upload your paper library. Your notes, saved snippets, projects, preferences, and generated content are stored locally within the app. You can export notes and snippets as Markdown or create a portable JSON backup and save it to a location you choose through Files. If you open PDFs from or save exports to a cloud-storage provider, that provider may sync those files according to your settings. Your original PDF files are never modified.Read more
