Legado: Fishing Game in AR

Cast a butterfly net across Lake Pátzcuaro and fish the way Purépecha fishermen have for centuries, now in augmented reality. Legado: Fishing Game in AR is a short, handmade game by a developer who grew up in Pátzcuaro, Mexico. Its first version was a Swift Student Challenge 2025 winner. READ THE WATER Every ripple hides a species: charales swimming in schools, carp, the rare Pátzcuaro whitefish… and the achoque, an endangered relative of the axolotl that a good fisherman recognizes and lets go. As the haul goes on, ripples drift and fade faster. STREAKS AND SCHOOLS Tap the water and your net lands right there. Catch a whole school in one cast and chain casts into streaks that multiply your points. Every haul lasts 45 seconds. DAILY TASKS AND LOGBOOK Three new tasks every day. Completing them opens logbook pages about the lake’s history, its species and the people who protect it, with sources. NIGHT OF SOULS Free for everyone every Day of the Dead: fish among candlelit canoes heading to Janitzio and gather marigolds for your ofrenda. The rest of the year it’s part of Legado Complete, a one-time purchase that also unlocks Zen Mode for fishing with no clock. HANDMADE A short, relaxing game about Mexican culture, with original illustrations, music and code. No ads, no subscriptions, no tracking. Requires an iPhone or iPad that supports ARKit.
