About

I'm learning Chinese and I'm ready to read something other than textbooks. However, reading the original text requires so many dictionary lookups that I run out of steam after two or three pages. This reading app is for that purpose. ■ Don't close the book to look up words in the dictionary The text has pinyin (in-yin) above it. You can display it for the entire text, limit it to difficult words only, or hide it completely. Tap on an unfamiliar word to open its definition immediately. You can also display the Japanese translation only when needed. The app was designed with maintaining reading speed as the top priority. ■ Check with your ears Each chapter has an audiobook. Tap on a sentence to start reading from there, and if you continue playback, the currently read sentence will automatically advance with a light. You can also change the playback speed. You can hear the pauses that you might miss with just your eyes. ■ Read where there's no signal Once you've downloaded a chapter, it remains on your device. You can read on the subway or on an airplane. You can always check and remove titles, seeing which works you have and how many you have. ■ Remember where you left off The app remembers which chapter you read and how far you've progressed. Even if you close the app and open it again after several days, you can continue from where you left off. ■ Included Works Lao She's "Camel Xiangzi," all 24 chapters This is the story of Xiangzi, a rickshaw driver in Beijing. Written in simple colloquial language, it's relatively easy to get into as a Chinese reading material. The word count is approximately 100,000 characters; if you read one chapter a day, you can finish it in about a month. We plan to add more works in the future. The name "Bunko" (文庫) was chosen not for a single book, but for the way the books will be displayed on shelves. ■ About the Included Works This app includes works whose copyright protection period has expired.Read more
