About
Primo Halal is a halal food scanner and halal checker that reads the ingredients panel on a packaged product and tells you which ingredient decided the result. Scan the barcode, or photograph the label when there is no barcode, and the app checks every entry against its ingredient and E number table. Rather than guessing whether a product is halal or haram, it reports what the printed ingredient list declares. It is not a halal certification and it does not issue religious rulings. WHAT YOU SEE AFTER A SCAN - One of four results: no prohibited ingredients found, doubtful because the source is unclear, contains a prohibited ingredient, or cannot determine - The deciding ingredient, named, whenever there is one - The full ingredient list, each entry marked permissible, animal derived, prohibited, doubtful source, or not in our database - Precautionary wording printed on the pack, such as may contain traces, kept separate from the result - A halal claim or a named certifier printed on the pack, shown beside the result and never used to decide it - Plain language, so you can check the reasoning yourself A HARAM INGREDIENT CHECKER THAT NEVER GUESSES Label scanners fail in two ways, and both are in their reviews. They pass a product whose pack lists pork gelatin, and they mark everything they do not recognise as doubtful, carbon dioxide included. Primo Halal does neither. An ingredient that is not in the table is reported as not in the database, and doubtful is reserved for a real ingredient whose source is genuinely unclear, with the reason stated. HOW THE SCANNER WORKS - Scan a barcode, or use it as an ingredient scanner and photograph the ingredients label when there is no barcode or no record for it - Every entry is matched against a curated table of ingredients and E numbers, gelatin, rennet, enzymes, emulsifiers, carmine, L cysteine and alcohol carriers among them - A fixed rule set produces the result, and the explanation is written from that result rather than in place of it - Where the printed label and the product record disagree, the pack in your hand wins, and both are shown - Past scans are kept on your device WHO IT IS FOR - Shoppers comparing two products in the aisle - Parents checking candy, cookies, cereal and snacks - Anyone reading an ingredients label in a language they do not speak - Anyone who wants the reason rather than a color WHAT IT IS NOT Primo Halal is not a certification body. It does not speak for any certifying body, school of jurisprudence or scholar, and nothing it shows is a religious ruling. Recipes change, labels are reprinted, and a photograph can be misread, so read the pack yourself before you buy. DATA AND ATTRIBUTION Barcode product data comes from Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), made available under the Open Database License (ODbL), with its database contents under the Database Contents License (DbCL). The ingredient and E number table is our own work. Privacy Policy: https://techprimo.ai/legal/primohalal/privacy-policy Terms: https://techprimo.ai/legal/primohalal/terms-and-conditionsRead more
