About
GentleMove is chair yoga, seated exercises, balance exercises and gentle strength for adults over 50 and over 60, built to be read from a chair at arm's length. Every move is done sitting in a chair or standing with a hand on one, low impact and at home, and each routine is 5 to 20 minutes. WHAT IT DOES Routines you can follow Three tracks: chair yoga for loosening up and breathing, balance work holding the back of a chair, and gentle strength for legs and arms. Each track has routines of 10, 15 and 20 minutes, and there are four short ones for the days you only have 5 minutes. A player made for tired eyes One move at a time, shown by an animated figure, with the name, a plain sentence on what to do, and a large countdown. The next move waits in the corner. There is one big Pause button and a Skip button, and a rest between moves. The screen stays on while the player is open, and the routine pauses by itself when a call comes in or you leave the app. A spoken count The phone's own voice names each move and counts down the last seconds, so you can look at the room rather than the screen. It can be turned off. Where to start Three questions on the first day (standing up from a chair, balancing with a chair, climbing stairs) suggest where your routines begin: Gentle, Steady or Stronger. You can change the level in Settings at any time. If you would rather not stand to exercise, every routine keeps to seated moves. A weekly plan Choose the days you want to move. Each planned day has a routine ready, rotating through the three tracks. After two weeks of sessions the app asks whether you would like to move up a level; the answer is yours, and a missed week is simply a missed week. The library 105 chair exercises and standing moves in all, each with its own animation and instructions, filtered by track or by seated only. Try any move on its own. Build your own Put your favourite moves in the order you like, choose how long each one lasts and how long to rest, and save it. Calendar Every session goes on a calendar with the minutes you moved, how it felt and a note if you want one. Your streak is counted in weeks with your plan met, not in days. Reminders A reminder on the days you chose, at the time you chose. Easy to read Three text sizes, chosen on the first screen and changed at any time. Large buttons, plain words and no swiping needed to get around. Backup One file with your sessions and routines, to keep or move to another phone. WHO IT IS FOR Adults over 50 and over 60 who want gentle exercise at home, people who prefer seated exercises, and family members setting up something simple for a parent. WHAT YOU GET The standard plan includes three 10 minute routines in each track, the five minute routines, the player with its spoken count, the calendar and reminders. Full access adds the whole library to play move by move, the 15 and 20 minute routines, the weekly plan that steps up with you, building your own routines, and backup. Every session you have done stays on your calendar whatever you choose. There are no ads. YOUR DATA Your sessions and settings are stored on your phone. There is no account and no sign-in. Crash reports and usage statistics are sent to help fix problems; neither contains your sessions. WHAT IT IS NOT GentleMove shows gentle exercises and keeps a record of what you did. It is not medical advice and does not replace a doctor or physiotherapist. Check with your doctor before starting an exercise routine, and stop if anything hurts. The app is in 10 languages.
