About

Balkans eSIM is the travel data plan for a road trip that crosses two or three borders in a week: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo all sit outside EU roaming, and US carrier day passes there add up fast. Install the Balkans eSIM on Wi-Fi before you fly and your phone is online at Belgrade Nikola Tesla or Tirana airport before you reach baggage claim. Why Balkans eSIM: • A regional plan for the classic Balkan loop, plus country plans for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo • No daily international pass from your home carrier and no surprise roaming bill after the trip • Your US number stays on your physical SIM for calls and texts; the eSIM only handles data • Skip the phone shop and the passport registration at every border • 4G/5G in the cities, LTE on the highways and the coast • Live usage tracking and top-ups inside the app Where it works: Belgrade and Novi Sad, Sarajevo and Mostar, Kotor, Budva and Perast, Tirana, Berat and the Albanian Riviera, Skopje and Lake Ohrid, Pristina and Prizren. The regional Balkans plan covers Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Croatia, Greece and Bulgaria. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo are not included; each has its own country plan in the app, so a Sarajevo or Pristina leg is covered with that plan. How it works: • Pick a plan and pay with Google Pay or card • Install the eSIM by QR code or directly in the app; your phone must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked, and the app checks compatibility before you buy • After landing, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and you are connected Plans: Regional and single-country plans with a fixed amount of data, daily plans, and unlimited plans for single countries such as Serbia, Albania and Montenegro (not Kosovo); after the daily high-speed allowance the speed is reduced until the next day. Europe plans are there if the trip continues. Running low in Budva takes a few taps to fix with a top-up. The eSIM works as a second line, so your phone number does not change. Who it is for: • Road trippers driving Belgrade to Sarajevo, Mostar, Kotor and Tirana • Serbian, Bosnian, Albanian and Macedonian families in the US visiting relatives back home • Beach weeks in Montenegro or on the Albanian Riviera • Remote workers settling in for a month in Belgrade or Tirana • Study abroad students and business travelers with meetings in Belgrade or Skopje Crossing from Montenegro into Albania, or from Serbia into North Macedonia, the regional plan keeps working. Heading into Bosnia and Herzegovina or Kosovo? Buy that country's plan in the app before the border and switch your data line to it in Settings. Airports covered: Belgrade (BEG), Sarajevo (SJJ), Podgorica (TGD), Tivat (TIV), Tirana (TIA), Skopje (SKP), Ohrid (OHD), Pristina (PRN), Dubrovnik (DBV), Split (SPU), Zagreb (ZAG), Sofia (SOF), Thessaloniki (SKG) and Istanbul (IST). Common questions Do I have to take my SIM card out? No. The eSIM is a second line, so your own number keeps working for calls and bank codes while data runs on the local network. When does the plan start? At your first connection in the region, not on the day you buy, so you can install at home on Wi-Fi. The exception is some Bosnia and Herzegovina plans, which start at installation; the app shows this on each plan. Does one plan work in every country on the list? The regional plan works in Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Croatia, Greece and Bulgaria. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo need their own country plan, sold in the same app. Also used by Albanian, Serbian and Bosnian families in the States going home for the summer.
