HopiPlay is a companion app for visitors of the Hopi Hari theme park (Vinhedo, São Paulo, Brazil). Problem: waiting in line is the least enjoyable part of a theme park visit. Value: HopiPlay turns that waiting time into a short game. Visitors scan the QR code posted at an attraction's queue, play a quick mini-game, and earn a stamp in a digital passport. Completing the passport unlocks a free souvenir prize, redeemed in person at the park's prize counter. Players can also see rankings and add friends. The app has no chat, no posts, no comments, and no other way for users to communicate with each other. Adding a friend only saves their username on your own list. There is no messaging.
