About

The bag holds the sample. Cragveris holds the place it came from. A ridge, an exposed rock face, a particular layer a few metres above the base: those details give a specimen its context. Cragveris brings them into the same workspace, connecting expedition records with sites, outcrops and the samples collected along the way. Begin at expedition scale. See the recorded sites, samples and outcrops together with fieldwork progress and recent activity. Return to the latest site or move straight into recording a sample or an observation. At each site, the picture becomes more specific. Review its mapped position, coordinates, elevation and visit information alongside photographs and notes. Keep the surrounding landscape within reach as you move between the site overview, its outcrops and its samples. The outcrop view brings the work down to individual layers. A vertical section places the layer sequence beside a photograph of the rock face, with sample markers showing their recorded positions. Follow the section from its base upwards and return to the context of each collection point. Add layers, log samples and use the sketch workspace to document features of the exposure. Keep identifiers attached to their place in the section so that a photograph, a sample record and a field observation remain connected. Cragveris is designed for geologists, field students and collectors who document where their specimens come from. Its structure follows the scale of the work: an expedition contains sites, a site contains exposures, and each exposure gives context to the material collected there. When the field day is over, those relationships are still there to revisit.Read more
