About
Fabric Belt Splice lays out vulcanised splices for fabric-ply conveyor belts and draws them as a dimensioned sheet you can take to the job. Choose the belt — plied and rated in PIW, plied and rated by EP class, or straight warp — its width and its covers. Choose a step splice or a finger splice, the bias, the hand, and which way the belt runs. The sheet redraws as you choose. EVERY SHEET SHOWS • The plan, carrying side up, as it is marked out on the belt: bias, master line, ply cuts or fingers, fill-in strips, breaker and press. • A section on the centre line, with each end's plies, the covers and the new rubber. • The dimensions that matter: step or finger length, overlap, splice length, bias, the belt the splice takes up, and the press length. • Which dimensions came from a table, and which you entered by hand. STEP SPLICES One fewer step than plies, from tables by fabric rating (PIW) or by class and ply count (EP), with fill-in strips that follow the cover gauge. FINGER SPLICES Four tables, by operating rating or by breaking strength, side by side for the same belt. Fingers are laid out from the centre line in whole pitches, and the sheet gives the spacing of the marks along the bias line. SPLICE INSTRUCTIONS The same splice as a document in pages, ready to print: the belt, the dimensions under the plan and the section, the press and cure, the materials, and the build step by step — marking out, cutting, cement, tie gum, assembly, covers and the press — with this splice's own figures in every step and a numbered drawing beside it. A FILM OF THE BUILD, AND THE SPLICE IN 3D Walkthrough writes a captioned film of the build, step by step, read aloud by your device's voice or silent. The splice stands in 3D on the screen, assembled or lifted apart layer by layer; on an iPad it stands in the room in front of you at its real size. YOUR OWN DIMENSIONS Type over any table figure to enter it by hand. It shows in bold, the sheet says so, and clearing it brings the table's figure back. A pull-back as long as its finger, or a finger wider than the belt, is refused with a reason. HOW THE SPLICE CARRIES LOAD, AND HOW IT CURES A stepped splice is worse than "one ply lost". The program draws what each ply carries along the splice and the shear in the rubber between plies, and gives the elastic efficiency, the hardest-worked ply, the peak and mean shear, how far the load takes to transfer, and the endurance strength with the tension it is good for. It runs the splice over a pulley, driven or not. And it cures the splice in its press: the heat-up, the cure and the cooling, and the state of cure through the thickness. See the press in 3D, whole or cut open. EXPORT The sheet as PDF, SVG, DXF and PNG; the splice instructions as a PDF; the film as an MP4; the 3D model as a USDZ. In inches and PIW or millimetres and N/mm. IN YOUR LANGUAGE The sheet, the instructions, the film and the window can be read in 21 languages, chosen in the window beside the units. SUBSCRIPTION The free download shows everything the program works out on a worked example; step or finger can be chosen and the press run. The monthly subscription is for your own belt: choosing it and its dimensions, changing a rule or the press, and exporting. Eligible new subscribers get a seven-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account; a subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple Account settings. FOR PLANNING Fabric Belt Splice is an engineering planning aid. It is not a splice procedure: follow the belt maker's and the kit supplier's instructions, and cure to the kit supplier's card. Check every figure against its source before cutting. No account, no advertising, no analytics. Your choices stay on your device. EVERY SHEET SHOWS
• The plan, carrying side up, as it is marked out on the belt: bias, master line, ply cuts or fingers, fill-in strips, breaker and press.
• A section on the centre line, with each end's plies, the covers and the new rubber.
• The dimensions that matter: step or finger length, overlap, splice length, bias, the belt the splice takes up, and the press length.
• Which dimensions came from a table, and which you entered by hand.
STEP SPLICES
One fewer step than plies, from tables by fabric rating (PIW) or by class and ply count (EP), with fill-in strips that follow the cover gauge.
FINGER SPLICES
Four tables, by operating rating or by breaking strength, side by side for the same belt. Fingers are laid out from the centre line in whole pitches, and the sheet gives the spacing of the marks along the bias line.
