About

chishala (吃啥啦) plans a week of Chinese home-style dinners for your family and turns it into one grocery list you can shop in a single trip. Note: the app is in Simplified Chinese. Every ingredient you need to buy also shows its English name, handy in US stores. 中文界面:每周中餐菜单 + 购买清单,一条微信转给做饭的人。 EVERY WEEK • Dinner for the nights you choose: 2 to 4 dishes a night based on household size (adjustable), plus a suggested staple. • Every dish we plan has a picture, a short method and a cooking tip; many also show why they were picked, like 娃爱吃 ("your kid loves it") or 用掉冰箱里的芹菜 ("uses the celery in your fridge"). • Reminders for how early to start long-cooking dishes. • One grocery list with amounts, sorted by store section. What's already in your fridge isn't counted. • Swap any dish: the list is recalculated; items you marked "already have" stay marked. • Skip a night, move it to tomorrow or delete it; the list follows. • Add a note in Chinese, like 这周想吃点辣 ("a bit spicier this week"); anything not done is flagged on the menu. WHAT IT WATCHES • Kids: dishes are picked for your child's age, with at least one your child can eat every night. • Food restrictions: seafood, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, peanuts & tree nuts, eggs, dairy. Anything you check is never planned in, sauces like oyster sauce included; if you ask for such a dish by name, it's shown with a warning. Other restrictions aren't supported yet; if anyone has a serious allergy, please check the ingredients yourself. • Spice limits, with a separate one for the kids. • Balance: a main dish and a vegetable each night, proteins in rotation, and at most 30% repeats from last week (pinned ones aside). When that can't be done, the menu says so. • It learns: "love it" dishes come up more, you can pin your regulars, and "not again" dishes stop being planned. FRIDGE Items checked off the list go in; dishes marked as cooked use them up. Menus try to use what's there. SHARE WITH THE COOK Tap 转发到微信 (forward to WeChat or any messaging app). The cook opens a web page with each day's dishes, ingredients, methods and shopping list; no app or account needed. Menus and lists you've opened stay readable offline; items you check off sync later. TRY A SAMPLE FIRST No account needed: answer 5 questions and see a sample Monday-to-Friday menu and grocery list for your family. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO Dinner only. No store deals, calorie counts or nutrition tracking. No ordering or delivery. No step-by-step videos. One account per household. PRIVACY To plan menus, your household size, taste settings, weekly requests and more are sent to Google's Gemini model (not used for training, per Google's paid-tier terms). The app asks for your consent before the first menu. Not sent: your kids' exact ages, the food restrictions you checked, your email and payment details. No ads, no third-party analytics. Delete your account anytime in the 我的 (Me) tab. SUBSCRIPTION Beyond the sample, chishala requires a membership (吃啥啦会员): $6.99/month (plus applicable tax), renewing monthly.
