ProofPI: Private Investigator

WHAT IT DOES ProofPI is the field log and case file for private investigators who keep their own records. It works offline and keeps your records on your phone. • A case file for each client, with subjects, vehicles, reference photos and the scope of work • Surveillance sessions with a live on-station timer, start and stop times, and an optional GPS stamp of your own position • One-tap observations recorded to the minute, plus typed entries. Each entry keeps the time you observed it and the time you recorded it • Photos from the camera or your photo library, numbered in order and saved at full size, with a SHA-256 fingerprint taken when each photo is saved and a check that the file has not changed since • Case notes for interviews, records searches, database searches and phone calls • Mileage at your own per-mile rate, and expenses with receipt photos • A billing summary: finished time on station at your hourly rate, mileage and expenses on one page • A case-file PDF with a cover page, your signature, each session with its photos and timeline, and an index of every photo with its fingerprint • An evidence package: one zip with the PDF, the photo files, receipts, spreadsheets and a SHA-256 manifest to share with a client or attorney • Spreadsheet (CSV) exports of cases, hours, observations, notes, mileage and expenses • A full backup in one file that restores on a new phone and only adds what is missing, so nothing already there is overwritten • A dark theme for night work, a privacy screen that hides the app in the app switcher, and an iPad layout with the case list and the case file side by side WHO IT'S FOR • Licensed solo private investigators and small agencies • Surveillance, insurance and workers' comp investigators • Anyone who keeps a separate case file per client and may have to produce it later YOUR RECORDS STAY YOURS Cases, sessions and photos are stored on your device. There is no account, and nothing is copied to a cloud unless you save a backup there yourself. GPS is used only when you tap to stamp a session, never in the background, and never to locate anyone but you. ProofPI is a record-keeping and document tool. It is not legal or investigative advice and does not guarantee that any record meets your licensing board's or a court's requirements. A photo fingerprint shows that a file has not changed since it was added; it does not prove who took it or make it admissible.
