asckoii: ASCII Koi Pond

A koi pond drawn in letters. One tap turns it into paint, dots, a woodblock print or pixels. No ads. No purchases. No account. Feed your koi, pair them, and watch the eggs hatch. A young koi takes its pattern from both parents, so no two koi look alike. Fill the Koidex with all 18 varieties, from Kohaku and Showa to Yamato Nishiki. Now and then a wild koi visits the pond and brings new varieties into your line. FIVE WAYS TO SEE IT ASCII draws the whole pond in letters. Paint is soft gouache. Tone draws it in dots, Ukiyo-e as a woodblock print, and Pixel in pixels. Each style has an Ink version in black and white. The light follows your clock from dawn to night, or you can keep one time of day. A POND THAT KEEPS LIVING The pond goes on while you are away. A Home Screen widget shows your koi, how hungry they are, and the next eggs to hatch. A Live Activity counts down to a hatching on the Lock Screen, and in the Dynamic Island on iPhones that have one. If you want them, notes tell you when eggs hatch, when a season turns, or when the koi have gone a whole day without food. LISTEN The pond makes its own quiet sound: moving water, a drip now and then, and a soft hiss when it rains. It mixes with your music, it is silent when your iPhone is on silent, and you can turn it off in Settings. WEATHER AND SEASONS Rain and cloud come and go by themselves. You can also pin the weather, or choose Live to match the sky where you are, through Apple Weather. The seasons follow the calendar: cherry petals in spring, lotus in summer, maple leaves in autumn, snow in winter. BUILD Start from one of four ponds. Dig and fill the banks, lay bridges, and place teahouses, lanterns, trees and seasonal pieces. Each new variety in the Koidex opens more to build and more land to build on. VISITORS A heron at the bank, a frog on a lily pad, a turtle, ducks, a dragonfly, a cat. PHOTO MODE Hide the controls and take a picture of the pond at the full resolution of the screen. Save it or share it. FOR TWO Turn on relationship mode for the Us page: a photo of you two, your names, how long you have been together, the next milestone, and the dates you want to remember.
