Sethoch

Sethoch is the complete field companion for Egyptian archaeology, bringing professional stratigraphic recording, Harris Matrix analysis, and chronological dating to your iPhone. Record excavation data exactly as you would on site. Create as many sites as your fieldwork demands, then build a full stratigraphic sequence context by context. Assign soil colour, compaction, and inclusion data; log every find from Predynastic pottery to Roman coinage across a 40-type artifact catalog; attach photos straight from the camera. Sethoch enforces the Wheeler-Kenyon single-context recording system from the first entry, and the built-in sequence engine computes your Harris Matrix automatically — detecting contradictions, suppressing redundant edges, and laying every context into a clean diagram you can export to your photo library. A parallel chronology engine calculates Terminus Post Quem brackets per context, propagates bounds through the sequence, groups contexts into phases, and plots a battleship seriation chart with Kendall tau agreement scores. Switch between Strict and Cautious evidence thresholds in Settings to match your interpretive standard. Not yet in the field? Sharpen your methodology with the Practice Trench simulator. Choose a site character — settlement mound, cemetery, workshop, or temple precinct — set depth and disturbance level, and excavate a secretly generated trench spit by spit. Discover finds, draw boundaries, record relationships, then receive a scored debrief across identification, relationships, dating accuracy, and excavation care. Climb the rank ladder from Trainee to Excavation Director as your skills grow. A built-in Field Handbook covers context types, relationship rules, TPQ reasoning, residual and intrusive material, and how to read a seriation chart. All data is stored on-device. No account, no subscription, no network connection required.
