About

MythArchive is a small museum of mythological creatures that fits in your pocket. Forty-six entries, drawn from folklore across six world regions, are laid out the way a gallery lays out its labels: one illustration, a handful of short sections, and room to breathe. You pick a region, follow it into a tradition, and open a creature. A minute later you know something you did not know before. The archive branches from the top down, so nothing arrives without context. World regions open into the traditions that belong to them — Slavic folklore, Norse legend, ancient Greek myth, Japanese folklore and Chinese mythology, Mesoamerican and West African traditions, and the stories of Ireland, India, the Maori and the Americas. Each creature page names its tradition plainly, and where the same creature is told several ways, the entry says so instead of flattening the versions into one official story. The design is deliberately quiet. Deep colour, thin rules, a soft glow on whatever you have selected, and no motion beyond a gentle fade — nothing flashes, spins or demands attention. Pages are short on purpose. This is an archive to wander through, not a reference work to wade into. Everything runs on your device. The entries and illustrations are compiled into the app, so it works on a plane, on a train, or with the connection off entirely. There is no account to create, no sign-in screen, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. What you have read is remembered only on your iPhone or iPad, and deleting the app deletes it.
