About

Clatter Hall is a quiet logic puzzle built out of mahjong tiles. Every tile in the drawer carries exactly one written rule about where it belongs. Your job is to arrange the whole wall so that not a single rule is broken. No matching. No luck. No pairs to clear. Just a shelf, a handful of tiles, and a set of statements that all hold true in only one arrangement. HOW IT PLAYS Pick a clue card from the drawer, then drag its tile onto the wall or tap an empty square. A clue turns green the moment it becomes true and red when it is broken. Order does not matter. Fill the wall with every clue green and the stage is done. Fewer moves earn more stamps. Clues arrive in five families that stack on top of each other as you go. Position clues pin a tile to a corner, an edge, a shelf or a column. Neighbour clues describe a tile relative to another tile by name. Distance clues count steps across the wall. Family clues talk about suits and honour tiles rather than names. Meld clues bring in runs, triplets, pairs and the tile one rank higher. More than two dozen kinds of clue in total. Every wall is graded before you see it, so the answer is always reachable by reasoning alone. A RACCOON LIVES BEHIND THE WALL Pip has been living behind the third shelf for years and he has opinions about your arrangement. On a timer he will swap two tiles you already placed, flip one face down, or pocket one entirely. You are not helpless. Pin a tile with a brass nail and he cannot move it. Feed him a leaf biscuit to buy one quiet turn. Blow a whistle and every stolen tile comes back at once. Light a lantern to reveal a placement you could have worked out. ONE CLUE IS A LIE From the sixth chapter Pip starts forging clue cards in his own handwriting. A forged clue is always provably false, which means the wall can never be completed until you strike it out. Satisfy the honest rules, work out which statement cannot possibly be true, and call the bluff. FIVE WAYS TO PLAY The Long Shelf. Six chapters and forty eight walls, each one tuned to introduce a single new idea. Daily Draw. One wall built from the date, identical on every device, refreshed at midnight. Endless Wall. Climb until a clue defeats you. Each depth adds tiles, then a new clue family, then Pip, then forgeries. Clatter Blitz. Short walls one after another against a ninety second, two minute or three minute clock. Free Forge. Set the shelf shape, the tile count, the clue families and the mischief, then build a wall to your own taste.Read more
