About

Plainpage installs two Safari extensions that clean up ads and pop-ups on the pages you browse. Rule-based filtering plus an on-device AI model work together, the AI runs locally on your iPhone, with no network lookups and nothing about your browsing ever leaves your phone. Plainpage would rather miss an ad than break a page, so it only removes elements it is highly confident about, and protects captchas, maps, video players, payment forms, and login screens. TWO LAYERS OF AD BLOCKING 1. Plainpage Rule Blocking: about 86,000 rules (from EasyList, EasyList China, and supplementary rules) are applied directly by Safari to block ad URLs and ad slots, and to block new pages that pop open after tapping an ad. This is the most battery-efficient layer. 2. Plainpage AI Filter: a local AI model catches ads the rules miss, such as a site's own ad placements or empty boxes left behind after an ad is blocked. The model was trained with the Jev model, learning from nearly 50,000 real webpage elements across websites in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, and a dozen more languages. PRIVACY Everything happens on your device. No network calls to judge content, no browsing data uploaded, no data collected, and no account or API key required. CAREFUL BY DESIGN Plainpage only removes elements it's very confident are ads. Captchas, maps, video players, payment forms, and login screens are protected, to help keep pages working. HOW TO USE 1. After installing Plainpage, open Settings, then Safari, then Extensions 2. Turn on both "Plainpage Rule Blocking" and "Plainpage AI Filter" 3. Browse in Safari and enjoy a cleaner reading experience Plainpage is free, for iPhone, requiring iOS 17 or later. Rule sources: Plainpage's blocking rules include EasyList, used under the CC BY-SA 3.0 license.Read more
