About
Pochette edits the tags, names and folders of a music library kept as files. Your tags, your file names and your folders are three copies of the same facts. Pochette keeps them in agreement, and shows you every change before it makes it. There is no import and no database. Open a folder and it is your library: every audio file under it is listed with its tags, cover, length and bitrate, read straight from the files. Close Pochette and nothing is left behind but better files. PREVIEW FIRST, UNDO ALWAYS A rename across five thousand files should not be a leap of faith. Every change Pochette makes is a plan first: each old name beside its new one, each old tag beside its new value, and anything that would collide listed on top. Nothing is applied until you say so, and a plan with a conflict cannot be applied at all. Undo still works after you quit, or after a crash, and never takes back an edit you made since. A long run can be stopped partway, and what it already did stays undoable. KEY FEATURES • Rename by pattern. Build a name from the tags, like Artist, Album, then track number and title. Sections in brackets are optional, so a single with no track number is still named properly. • Organize into folders. The same pattern with folders files loose downloads by artist and album. Covers, cue sheets and logs travel with their album, and folders are removed only when Pochette emptied them. Keep the originals to try a pattern on copies first. • Tags from path. Run the pattern backwards to fill in the tags of a folder that arrived untagged. • Kinds. A folder that holds more than music narrows to its audio, or to any kind of file, in one step. • Group by album or folder. Select a whole album at once, and see which are missing a track or split over two folders. • Batch edits. Set one field across a selection, find and replace in any tag, or number tracks in the order you see them. • Every format that matters. MP3 (ID3v2.3 and v2.4), AAC and ALAC (M4A, M4B, MP4, and raw AAC), Ogg (Vorbis and Opus), FLAC, AIFF and WAV, read and written by Pochette itself. Frames it does not understand are kept exactly as they were. • MIDI files too. They list and play beside the rest of your music, and take tags once converted to RMID, the same MIDI with a tag around it. Undo turns them back. • Cover art, title, artist, album, album artist, track and disc, year, genre, composer, comment and lyrics, the same in every format. • Names that survive any disk. Characters a drive refuses are replaced for you, so a library copied to a NAS or a USB drive keeps every name. • iCloud Drive aware. Files still in iCloud are listed without being downloaded, and fetched only when you ask. Changes made on disk by another app or another device show up on their own. • Your libraries on every device. Libraries kept in iCloud Drive, and your naming patterns, follow you to your other devices through iCloud. A library can also stay on one device only. • Play a track, and search the library by title, artist, album or file name. FREE TO TRY, ONE PURCHASE FOR THE REST Every feature but the Concert Grand is free on up to 10 files at a time, so you can watch Pochette work on your own music before paying anything. Pochette Pro, a one-time purchase with no subscription, removes the limit on your Mac, iPhone and iPad, and plays your MIDI files on the Concert Grand, a Yamaha C5 recorded key by key. Browsing, playing your files, search and undo are never limited. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Pochette only touches the folders you give it, and it makes no network connections of its own. Your music, your tags and your listening habits are never sent anywhere. What does cross the network goes through Apple: the instruments MIDI files play with are downloaded from Apple when first needed, Pro is bought through the App Store, and iCloud keeps your list of libraries and your naming patterns so they follow you. One switch in Settings turns that sync off.Read more

MIDI files join your library. Pochette lists and plays them beside the rest of your music, and tags them by converting them to RMID, the same MIDI with a tag around it. Undo turns them back. • The Concert Grand, with Pro: play your MIDI files on a Yamaha C5 recorded key by key. • Group by album or folder: select a whole album in one tap, and see which albums are missing a track or split over two folders. • Lyrics: read and edit each track's lyrics in the inspector, in every format Pochette tags. • Kinds: narrow a messy folder to its audio, or to any kind of file, in one tap. • Each library sh…
