Welcome to LuitPler, a night marshalling yard. Four benches share one landscape desk; the lit signal gantry takes you between them. FIRST STOP — 23.10 DOWN, THE HUMP. Wagons roll over the hump one at a time, in the order on the reception cut. Tap a road to shove the waiting wagon onto it. A road fills from its draw-off end, so the first wagon on is the first to leave. When the cut is worked off, the roads draw out in turn and the wagons must come out 1, 2, 3. Sixty-six plates, four wagons on two roads to fourteen on five, with short roads and brake vans that must lead. SECOND STOP — 01.45 UP, THE SAW. Booked lengths are cut from stock bars. Tap an order, then a bar. Every cut after the first costs a saw kerf. Seventy-four jobs, three orders on two bars to twelve on four. LAST STOP — BETWEEN TURNS. Brake Bench turns wagon mass, gradient and retarder force into roll-out speed. Shift Desk turns booked traffic and siding capacity into humping rate.
