The moulding floor is yours until the next shift. Walk it with me. There is work waiting on all four benches. Here on the rail is Runner Grade, the sand board. Iron pours from the sprue and travels only downhill, so you tap a junction to raise its sand head, or hold to drop it, then press Pour and watch the grading prove itself. Every cavity has to fill. Leave one starved and the grading is wrong. Sixty-eight boards climb from a single sprue feeding two cavities to a crossed network of five, and along the way you meet choked runners that want a steeper drop and rammed junctions you simply cannot move. Step across to the pattern loft. This is Parting Line. Each column is a slice through the pattern; tap its upper half to lift the split line, the lower half to drop it. The line must sit inside the solid on every column and never step too far between neighbours, or the pattern locks in the sand. Fifty-six patterns narrow the band, tighten the step limit, and pin columns you have to work around. Two more benches at the back. Shrink Bench turns a finished casting size into oversize pattern dimensions using alloy contraction and stock. Gate Desk sizes sprue, runner and ingate areas from a ratio and weighs the pour.
