About

Olmedis Kukulva is the field survey companion for anyone responsible for the long-term care of historic masonry — wardens, conservation officers, and surveyors who walk the wall and need an evidence-based answer before deciding what stays and what is removed. Photograph the patch of growth, work through the instrument panel — species type, masonry fabric, cover abundance, joint width, mortar condition, rooting depth, moisture source, wall aspect — and the app returns a clear verdict: Remove Now, Stage Removal, Leave, or Retain. The verdict updates in real time as you adjust each measurement, and a named fault list explains exactly what is driving the risk and what would change it. Not all growth is damage. Olmedis Kukulva is built around the understanding that a tight moss cushion on a coping can actively shield the joint beneath from direct rain. The app weighs the wedging pressure each of 14 colonist species exerts — from algal film and crustose lichen through sapling and strangler fig — against the protective credit it offers, giving you a net score and a defensible verdict, not a blanket prescription. The Works tab keeps the clearance programme in order. Season windows show which of six clearance methods are valid in the month you are standing in, and the programme list tracks what is due, what is waiting, and what has been deliberately kept. When a face is finished, file a formal clearance order — a band-by-band risk profile — directly to your Photos library. The Atlas tab puts the full species and fabric reference in your pocket on site, searchable and grouped by growth stage and colonisation tolerance.Read more
