About

Sailing Atelier is where owners of a serious cruising yacht keep what they have learned, and where they go to look it up again. Something goes wrong at anchor and you want to know whether anyone has seen it before. Somewhere in a group chat, three years ago, another owner solved exactly this. That message is gone. This app is the answer to that. KNOWLEDGE FROM OTHER OWNERS Ask the other owners. Post what is not right on board. When an answer turns out to work it is marked as the solution, so the next owner with the same fault finds a fix instead of a thread. Search before you ask. Years of owners group messages have been brought in and tidied up. Type a symptom, a part number or a system and you will usually find the question has already been answered. The knowledge library. Written guides on the systems aboard, plus the manuals and handbooks that belong to the model. The fleet. Who else is out there, what they have fitted and, if they choose to share it, roughly where they are sailing. YOUR OWN YACHT My boat is the front page of your yacht: what is due, what was done last, and the engine hours. The screen to open when you are standing in the engine room wondering when that was last touched. Tell her record which kit you actually have, and the rest of the app starts pointing at the parts, the guides and the spares that apply to your yacht instead of to the model in general. The maintenance log. What was done, when, and by whom. Set the jobs that come back every season or every so many engine hours and the app keeps track of what is overdue. It is also the record you hand over when she changes hands. Yard visits. Build the work list for a lay-up or a refit, pull in whatever is already due, and share it with the yard through a link that needs no account. When you close the visit, everything signed off goes straight into the log. The spares locker. What you carry aboard, counted against what other owners recommend for the kit you have fitted. The gap is the list you want to work through before a long passage, not after it. Documents. Insurance papers, survey reports, invoices and manuals in one place. Photograph a yard report at the dock and it is filed before you are back ashore. Only the people on your crew list can see them. Crew. A yacht is rarely run by one person. Invite a second owner with the same rights as you, or add a skipper, an engineer or someone ashore, and decide per person what they may see. WHEN SOMETHING NEEDS REPLACING The parts catalogue tells you which part fits which piece of kit, with the numbers other owners have actually ordered. The supplier list covers riggers, sailmakers, engineers and chandlers near a given harbour, with what other owners thought of them. Leave your own verdict after a job so the next owner is not guessing. A CLOSED CLUB This is not an open forum. Membership is verified: we check that you own the yacht you say you own before you see anyone's name, anyone's berth or anyone's papers. What you write stays inside the club. Your yacht's documents sit in private storage, not on a public address. Sharing your home port on the fleet list is a choice, and sharing your live position is a separate one. Neither is on by default. If your yacht is sold, her record goes with her. What belongs to the yacht transfers to the new owner; what is in your name, like a policy or an invoice, does not. Questions, or trouble getting in? Every message is read by a person. info@sailingatelier.com, or +31 (0)6 13 01 22 90.Read more
