About

You never get to see yourself during the interview, the presentation, or the oral exam. This is where you get to. Retake is a rehearsal room on your iPhone. Pick a prompt, let the clock run, answer it on camera — and a second after you stop, you are watching yourself back. Then you go again, and put the two attempts side by side to see what actually changed. Your recordings stay on this iPhone and are never uploaded. No AI scoring. PROMPTS THAT PUT YOU ON THE CLOCK • Interview — 12 prompts. You get 2:00 to answer, and recording stops at the limit. • Talk — 8 structure prompts for a presentation. A 5:00 target you are allowed to run past; the timer changes colour instead of cutting you off. • Oral Exam — 10 prompts. 1:00 of silent preparation, then recording starts by itself and stops at 2:00. • My Prompts — write your own, up to 200 of them, and choose which timing rule each one follows. Time pressure is half of what makes the real thing hard, so it is built into the practice instead of left to a stopwatch you forget to start. WHAT IS ON SCREEN WHILE YOU RECORD The prompt, so you never lose the question. A red dot and REC that cannot be swiped away. Elapsed time against your limit. A live audio meter, so you can see your voice arriving. Front camera by default, a 3-2-1 countdown you can switch off, and a take that stops and saves itself the moment the rule says so. PLAYBACK THAT KNOWS WHICH ANSWER IS WHICH A session of several prompts becomes several separate videos, not one long reel. Tap a numbered chip to jump straight to the answer you want. Swipe between prompts. Play from 0.5x to 2x, skip back 15 seconds, mark one take as your best, or redo a prompt without losing the older take. TWO TAKES, ONE SCREEN Put last week's attempt next to tonight's — same prompt, side by side, one scrubber moving both. Tap either video to hear it; only one plays audio at a time, because two people talking at once tells you nothing. Side by side is for the whole delivery: eye contact, posture, gestures, pace. For the finer detail, one tap sends you to a single take full screen. That comparison is the entire point. Watching yourself is uncomfortable. Seeing that you are better than you were last Tuesday is what brings you back tomorrow. YOUR RECORDINGS STAY YOURS • Every take is written to this iPhone and stays there. Your recordings are never uploaded. • Open it and record. No setup and no questionnaire before your first take. • Your takes are not added to your Photos, and do not appear in the Files app. • Recordings are deliberately kept out of iCloud backups, because they are large and personal. Said plainly: restore a new iPhone from a backup and your prompts come with you, but your videos do not. • Delete means delete. Swipe a take away and the video file leaves the disk immediately — there is no hidden recently-deleted folder. Settings shows exactly how much space your takes use, and clears all of them in one tap. • Exporting is yours to start. The iOS share sheet sends a take to AirDrop, Files, Mail or Messages only when you choose to. WHAT RETAKE DELIBERATELY DOES NOT DO No AI coach, no scoring, no report card — whether you did well is not ours to judge. No feed, no leaderboard, nobody to measure yourself against but yourself. No filters and no retouching, because seeing yourself unedited is the whole idea. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no advertising. Free, with nothing to unlock later. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use are inside the app, under Settings › About. Requires iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Portrait only.
