Local Receipts: Track Expenses

Photograph a receipt, look over what it says, and keep a record of your spending that lives with you. Local Receipts straightens the photo, reads the printed text, and suggests the merchant, date, total, tax and tip. You confirm them and tap Save. You never create an account, and your photos never reach us. FROM PAPER TO RECORD • Use the camera, pick a photo you already took, or type a receipt in with no photo at all • The app finds where the paper ends and sets the four corners for you. Drag any corner that is off, or rotate the picture. If it cannot find the paper, it says so and uses the whole photo • Brightened evens out shadows and faded print. Original color leaves the colors untouched • The reading is done inside the app, with no server involved • Each suggested field is highlighted, and the receipt stays marked Check details until you tap Save • The app looks for a line marked total, amount due or balance due, and passes over the subtotal. If there is no such line, it tells you, and offers the largest amount as a guess FINDING A RECEIPT AGAIN • Search merchants, notes, payment labels and the words printed on the receipts • Filter by month, category, merchant, or business receipts only • Twelve starting categories, plus your own. Rename or remove any of them, apart from Other • Mark a receipt as business or tax deductible, and give it notes and a payment label like "card ending 1234". If a long card number is typed in, only its last four digits are kept • Deleted a receipt by mistake? Undo is there for a few seconds TOTALS See a month, a year or everything at once, broken down by category, with the tax, the tips and the business share. Each currency is totaled on its own. Nothing is converted, and one currency is never added to another. TAKING IT WITH YOU • CSV export: one row per receipt for the receipts you choose, ready for a spreadsheet app • Backup: a single file holding every receipt, photo, category and setting. On a new iPhone or iPad, open it with Add from a backup • PDF expense report (Pro): totals by category, a list of the receipts, then, if you like, each photo on a page of its own, in US Letter or A4 FREE, AND WHAT PRO ADDS The free version holds up to 15 receipts. The camera, the text reading, search, totals, CSV export and backups are all part of it. Local Receipts Pro is an optional one-time purchase. It lifts the 15 receipt cap and adds the PDF expense report. Tap Restore purchases to bring Pro to another iPhone or iPad that uses your Apple Account. Receipts you already have are never locked, and the limit never blocks restoring a backup. GOOD TO KNOW • The text reader knows English only. Curled or faded receipts read less well, so every field stays yours to correct • The PDF report is drawn in a Latin font, so words in other alphabets print as question marks there. In the app and in the CSV they stay exactly as you typed them • A very long receipt works better as one photo taken from a little further back • This app keeps records. It does not give tax or accounting advice YOUR RECORDS, KEPT CLOSE • Receipts, photos, the text read from them and everything you type are saved as files on this device. None of it goes to us or to anyone else unless you export it • When the device backs up to iCloud or a computer, iOS includes Local Receipts in that backup • A CSV, report or backup goes out through the share sheet, to the place you pick • The app makes one connection: a purchase service tells it if Pro was bought. That service receives a random ID for this install, Apple's identifier for vendor, basic device details and the purchase record. Never your receipts.
