About

Farstep lets you walk the wonders of the world in real, first-person 3D on your phone. Not 360° photos. Not a video. Real places you move through with your own feet: step inside the Stonehenge circle, stand on the summit ridge of Mount Everest, look down into the Grand Canyon from the South Rim, and walk the Roman wall across the north of England. Stonehenge is free, complete, forever. Nine more world landmarks are one-time purchases. No subscription, no ads, no account. WALK INSIDE STONEHENGE Visitors have been kept outside the stone circle since 1978. In Farstep you can walk straight through it. Stand under the trilithons, find the Altar Stone, and watch the midwinter sun set down the solstice axis, the same line it has followed for 4,500 years. Toggle Then to see the sarsen circle as it may have stood complete around 2500 BC, clearly labelled as a reconstruction. STAND ON THE ROOF OF THE WORLD The highest point in the world, built from real elevation data. Skip the Mount Everest climbing season: walk the last ridge of the climbing route to 8,849 m, look out over a sea of cloud, and find where the Hillary Step stood. You can't get closer to Everest without the $50,000 permit and the real risk. LOOK INTO THE GRAND CANYON One of the natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon comes from US Geological Survey elevation data: stand on the South Rim and read two billion years of rock in the coloured bands below. Yosemite Valley puts you on the valley floor beneath El Capitan and Half Dome. WALK THE ANCIENT RUINS OF EUROPE Megaliths of Europe brings five of the oldest monuments in the world in one pack: the great henge at Avebury, the Newgrange passage tomb in Ireland, the Neolithic village of Skara Brae on Orkney, the Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis and the Carnac alignments in Brittany. Hadrian's Wall puts you on the crags beside Housesteads fort, on a wall begun in AD 122. A GUIDED TOUR AT EVERY SITE Every world landmark in Farstep has a guided tour, like a world-class guide in your pocket. The camera walks you from stop to stop, and your phone's own voice reads each one aloud. Or walk anywhere you like and tap the gold markers. KNOWN OR THEORISED? Every fact is tagged Known when the evidence is solid, Theorised when historians still argue, or Folklore when it's a legend. Farstep never sells a fringe claim as fact. Ancient history is more interesting when you know what we actually know. EASY CONTROLS Drag to look around. Walk with the thumb stick on the left of the screen, or with W A S D on a keyboard. Pick your pace: stroll, walk or brisk. Guided tours can be read aloud by your phone's own voice. COLLECT YOUR WORLD PASSPORT Earn a stamp for every hotspot you find and every tour you finish. Complete a site, then the whole world. HOW IT'S BUILT Real-world terrain from open elevation data (SRTM, USGS 3DEP, UK Environment Agency LiDAR), photoscanned rock, grass and snow materials, lighting from real sky photographs, soft shadows and fog. Every site runs on your phone once installed, anywhere in the world, with no connection needed. WHAT'S INCLUDED • Stonehenge: free • Everest summit ridge • Grand Canyon • Yosemite Valley • Megaliths of Europe: Avebury, Newgrange, Skara Brae, Callanish, Carnac • Hadrian's Wall • All ten sites: one bundle, one purchase Each pack is a one-time purchase at your store's local price. No subscription, no ads, no sign-in, no tracking. Farstep is a virtual tour of world landmarks for anyone, anywhere in the world, who has wanted to stand somewhere they can't get to: a trip to the wonders of the world, a walk among ancient ruins, a look at the Grand Canyon or the top of Mount Everest from your sofa.
