About

Explore Chinese characters, Japanese kana, Korean Hangul and alphabets through hands-on visual practice, for curious learners of any age. Tap a tile to rotate clockwise, drag to swap, and restore the complete character. Recognize it early? Choose from four answers. GlyphTiles combines character recognition, visual observation and self-directed practice, with no countdown or age-specific course requirement. Explore different writing systems • 102,998 Unicode 17 Han character codes, including simplified, traditional and rare forms. A separate traditional selection contains 3,927 characters. • Japanese: 86 hiragana and 90 katakana characters. • Korean: 51 Hangul letters and 11,172 complete syllables. • Basic Latin, Greek and Russian alphabets, plus digits. • 114,574 supported character codes in total, with offline fonts and resources. Practice at your own pace • Begin with a world sampler or mix multiple character sets, textbook lists and your own text. Overlapping characters appear once. • Try 2×2, adaptive 3×3 or 4×4 exercises; choose the character range separately. • Chinese character levels, primary textbook lists and your own pasted text are available. • The bulb inside each answer opens the system dictionary without submitting an answer. • Keep rotating and swapping after completion; your saved result stays unchanged. • Search the full library, save favorites and revisit your study record. • Adaptive portrait and landscape layouts for iPhone and iPad; the home screen and practice controls need no vertical scrolling. • Light and dark appearance, with manual selection or automatic system matching. • Smooth clockwise turns, swap previews, undo, one-tile hints and soft, rounded sounds. All exercises and character sets are free, with banner ads. Remove Ads is a one-time in-app purchase, with no subscription; restore it using the same Apple Account. The App Store shows the local price. Tracking is optional and refusing it does not affect practice. Exercises work offline; ads, purchase and restore require a connection. Custom text, favorites and progress stay on your device. You choose whether to share a progress export. Coverage and references This is visual character practice, not a complete language course. The library contains the explicitly listed single-character sets, not every language, unencoded form, variation sequence or joined script. Japanese has dedicated kana sets; shared Han characters use the existing bundled glyphs. Some forms, including Japanese kanji, vary by region and are not normative handwriting models. System dictionary entries depend on installed dictionaries; individual letters, kana and rare characters may have no entry. Download dictionaries in iOS Settings → General → Dictionary. Reference readings may omit additional pronunciations. Chinese textbook lists offer the 2024 revision and the 2016–2019 edition, with mixed selection. Verified revised lists cover both terms of Grades 1–3 and Term 1 of Grades 4–6: 9 volumes and 17 lists. Grade 6 Term 1 has a writing list. Revised Term 2 lists for Grades 4–6 are not yet included; choose the earlier edition or paste your lesson text. Counts include pronunciation review characters, with duplicates removed. Interface languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German and Spanish. Practice content spans the writing systems listed above.Read more
