About

Smriti is a book reader for iPhone and iPad whose catalogue is your own Calibre-Web server. IMPORTANT: Smriti is not a bookstore. It neither sells nor gives away books. You need a Calibre-Web server of your own with the OPDS catalogue enabled, and an account on that server. Without one, the app has nothing to show you. WHAT IT DOES, FOR FREE • Your whole library in a grid of covers, with authors, categories, recent additions and search across the catalogue. • It opens offline. The catalogue and the covers are kept on the device, so the app starts on the train just as it does at home — and it tells you that what you are seeing is the cached copy. • Downloads with real progress and resuming: if the connection drops, it carries on from where it was instead of starting over. • A proper reader: paged or continuous scrolling, light, sepia and dark themes, typeface, size, margins, line height, justification with hyphenation, and a table of contents. • Your page follows you. Reading position syncs between your iPhone and your iPad through iCloud: leave a book at 30% on one and the other offers to take you there. • Deleting a download frees the space and does not lose your place. SMRITI PRO — ONE-TIME, OPTIONAL PURCHASE • Highlights and notes on the text, in five colours, with a per-book list in reading order. • Your annotations sync between your devices through iCloud as well. Everything else is free and will stay free. No subscription, no ads, no account to create. PRIVACY Smriti collects no data. No analytics, no third-party SDKs, no advertising. Your credentials live in the device Keychain, your books travel from your server to your device, and your reading position and annotations go to the private database of your own iCloud. Nobody else can read them. REQUIREMENTS • A Calibre-Web server reachable from the device, with OPDS enabled. • iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. • For syncing, the same iCloud account on both devices. Smriti (स्मृति) means "that which is remembered".Read more
