About
Rackr scores where you lock up. Tap a rack, a street, or search an address. Rackr reads the block from bike thefts reported to police nearby, tells you if the picture is rising or easing, and points you to a greener rack within walking distance. Everything runs on your phone: no account, nothing to sign into, and the whole app — map, scores, racks, routes — works with no connection at all. HOW IT WORKS • Pick any spot in a supported city • See a score for reported bike thefts near it — Low to Very High — and how this year compares with thmulti-year record • Where the city publishes it, a separate read for bikes locked OUTSIDE (Toronto) • Explore three timeframes: the latest 12 months, 3 years and 5 years of data • A seasonal strip shows which months reports peak THE GREENER RACK When a spot reads Moderate or worse, Rackr finds the nearest rack in the city's inventory whose block reads green, and draws a walking route — on the street network, even offline. Rack type and capacity come along where the city records them. RACKS, THEFTS AND HEAT • Rack inventory on the map, ring-coloured by the block's score • Reported thefts as dots, and a theft heat map across the city — both a tap away in the menu • "Around you": with location on, the racks within 300 m and the greenest of them YOURS, ON THIS DEVICE • Save up to 25 spots, each with its greener rack and route • Recent checks, always one tap away • No account, no sign-in, no ads. Your spots and settings never leave the phone • Distance in metres or feet; an online or offline map — your choice WORKS WITHOUT A SIGNAL Rackr ships every supported city inside the app: the map, the scores, the racks, the walking routes. Underground bike rooms, dead zones, no data plan — it all still works. Online, address search and a live map layer are added on top. SUPPORTED CITIES Toronto (Toronto Police bicycle-theft open data, 2014 to date, with the city's rack inventory), Ottawa (Ottawa Police, 2018–2025), Vancouver (Vancouver Police open data, 2003 to date), and San Francisco (SFPD incident reports, 2018 to date). Rackr only maps cities whose police publish bike thefts as their own category with a location — more as the data allows. THE DATA Scores are built from bike thefts reported to police and published as open data. Counts are when thefts were reported, not when they happened; reports are incomplete, may be delayed, and are placed by the publisher at the block or intersection. A higher score means more reports nearby — not a prediction, and not a guarantee that any rack, street or area is safe. Rackr cannot prevent theft. Always lock well and use your own judgement. In an emergency, call 911. Part of the same family as Parkr (where you park) and Dispatchr (the whole picture of public-safety activity around you).Read more
