TAU Flower Buds Scanner

Flower Buds is the official field research companion for kiwifruit orchard monitoring. Designed for growers, agronomists, and research teams, the app combines professional-grade video recording, real-time on-device AI detection, and precise GPS tracking — all in one native iOS experience. **RECORD WITH PRECISION** Capture high-quality video directly from your iPhone with full manual camera control. Adjust ISO, shutter speed, and target brightness to suit any lighting condition in the orchard. HDR recording support ensures every detail is preserved, even in challenging outdoor light. **AI-POWERED DETECTION** Flower Buds uses an on-device machine learning model to detect branches in real time as you record. No internet connection required for detection — everything runs locally on your device for instant, low-latency feedback in the field. **GPS-TAGGED RECORDINGS** Every recording session is automatically paired with a precise GPX location log. Know exactly where each video was captured, enabling accurate spatial analysis and comparison across your orchard over time. **SITE BLOCK MANAGEMENT** Organise your recordings by site block. Create and manage orchard sections directly in the app, keeping your field data structured and easy to review when you return to the office. **SEAMLESS CLOUD SYNC** When you're back in range, Flower Buds automatically uploads your recordings to the Tau Research platform via secure multipart upload. Background transfers mean you can move on to the next block while your data syncs — no waiting at the end of the day. **BUILT FOR THE FIELD** • Keeps the screen alive during active recording sessions • Offline-ready: record and detect without a connection, sync when back in range • Pause and resume recordings without losing your session • Upload queue with real-time progress on your dashboard Flower Buds is purpose-built for the Tau Research platform. A registered Tau Research account is required to use the app.
