About
We study meteorites to understand places we cannot easily visit. Most come from asteroids, while some reach us from the Moon or Mars. Their minerals and textures preserve evidence of how these bodies formed and changed over time. A. Artifacts brings 124 of these fragments together for a closer look: where they came from, what we have learned from them, and the questions they still leave open. LOOK CLOSELY Every stone is a 3D model built from museum scans and photographs. Pinch into the collection, tap a stone, and turn it in your hand, from Martian and lunar meteorites to iron slices and pieces recovered in Antarctica. READ SLOWLY Each stone has a short story. Learn what you are looking at, where it came from, how it reached Earth and what makes it remarkable. Every fact links to its source, from NASA to natural history museums. CHANGE THE LIGHT Switch between the natural look, an X-ray view that reveals texture, and traveling light. A PRICE STUDY Browse a wheel of rare stones with illustrative estimates of what they might fetch, and add them up. Nothing in the app is for sale. MADE WITH CARE No accounts, no ads and no tracking. A quiet soundtrack plays while you explore, and you can turn it off at any time. Photographs and 3D scans are credited to NASA, museum collections and photographers on Wikimedia Commons, under their original licences.Read more
