About

Gnome is for the moment you are standing somewhere holding a plant you cannot name. Photograph it and Gnome tells you, in this order: 1. HOW DANGEROUS IT IS. Irritant, toxic or lethal — and whether burning or swallowing it can hurt you. This is shown first and shown loudest, before anything else on the card. 2. WHAT IS IN IT. The compounds the plant is reported to contain, and what each one is known to do to a person. 3. WHETHER IT IS PSYCHOACTIVE. Which effects come from which compound, described as information. 4. THE GNOME RATING. How strong the psychoactive effect is reported to be, from 0 to 10 gnomes. It is an information score, never a safety signal: a plant can rate 9 and still be lethal. 5. HOW SURE IT IS. When Gnome is not confident it says so loudly. An unidentified plant is treated as dangerous, because several plants that kill people look like ordinary weeds. WHAT GNOME WILL NEVER DO Gnome never tells you that a plant can be eaten, smoked, brewed or handled. It gives no quantities and no preparation instructions. There is no result in this app that means go ahead. Paying for it buys an identification, never permission. It is not medical advice — if you think someone has been poisoned, call your local emergency number or poison centre immediately. GNOME PRO Identifying a plant needs a Gnome Pro subscription, and it starts with a 3-day free trial: • Gnome Pro Monthly — USD 14.99 per month • Gnome Pro Annual — USD 44.99 per year Both unlock the same thing: up to 10 plant identifications a day, the count resetting at midnight UTC. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, and the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the free trial ends and you are not charged. We keep your account, the email address your provider releases, and what the store tells us about your subscription — nothing else. The photograph you submit goes to our own server, which asks a vision model to read it and sends the answer straight back; it is held in memory for that one request and is never stored and never logged.
