About

A raven circles above the town. Beneath its rooftops, human stories unfold. Tarnów, 1846. News of violence reaches the town, along with refugees and people searching for their loved ones. Everyday life goes on, but offering shelter, speaking a name or promising help can change someone's fate. Rzeź 1846 is a historical narrative game that combines free flight over a three-dimensional Tarnów with stories shaped by your choices. Guide a raven over rooftops, perch near gathering places and follow the conversations of the townspeople. The raven is a witness. The decisions — and their consequences — belong to people. THREE STORIES, THREE PERSPECTIVES A Borrowed Name A wounded young man arrives at Hanka's bakery. He gives the name of someone another person is searching for. Marta must make room for someone else's secret — and for a life of her own. Before Daybreak Helena Rudzka tries to protect her loved ones as the world she once trusted falls apart. Amid conflicting reports and family obligations, she must decide whom to trust and what to carry into an uncertain future. Days Owed Zofia and her family want to reclaim their time and labour. Their hopes for change collide with poverty, obligations to the manor and the question of what price they are willing to pay for independence. EXPLORE AT YOUR OWN PACE • Fly over the town and see Tarnów through a raven's eyes. • Follow conversations and make choices that lead to different endings. • Revisit events and discoveries in the Raven's Notebook. • Start with any of the three stories — all are available from the beginning, each with separate progress. • Read in Polish or English, with no time limit on reading. HISTORY AND FICTION The game is set against the real events of the Galician peasant uprising of 1846, in a recreation of historic Tarnów informed by maps and historical sources. The main characters and their conversations are fictional. Their lives offer three perspectives on the same turbulent period: those of townspeople, the landed gentry and peasants. One purchase includes all three stories. No subscriptions or additional in-app purchases. The game centres on reading and exploration and contains no audio. Its themes include violence, death, grief and social inequality.Read more
