About
Amaru Surf is a pixel-art surfing game about one wave. You see it front-on as it peels, it has a barrel you can actually get inside, and Amaru, a yorkie in a necktie, rides the nose of your board. The wave takes the screen Every heat starts with the whitewater at the left edge. While nobody is in the barrel it creeps across, and by half-time it has taken five-eighths of the screen, and the room for aerials with it. Riding fast does not stop it. Only the barrel pushes it back. The barrel is real Ride close to the foam and the wave opens a cavity around you, with spray pouring over you while you are in. Every second inside wins back four seconds of the wave's creep. Come out clean and the tube pays you in speed; launch off the lip while that boost lasts and you go over the wave. Land it The stick rotates the board and you always travel where the nose points. You get airborne by riding up over the lip, spin for the score, then straighten up before you touch down. A hint in the top bar tells you which way to push, and flattens into a bar when it is safe to land. Six heats, three lives Each heat has a clock and a target score, and every heat runs a faster wave and a busier face: buoys and driftwood at first, then more sharks each time. Miss the target and it costs a life. Keep Amaru dry When Amaru rides with you, finish the heat without a single wipeout and it pays +50%. Wipe out and he dives clear, safe, and swims off. He is never hurt. The stake is a bonus, not a dog. Five judges, one of them useless After every heat, five pixel faces hold up cards from 0 to 10. Four of them grade what you did. The fifth gives you a 10 no matter what. Play it your way • Practice: the solo run, six heats against the table • Versus the computer, at easy, normal or hard • Two players on one screen, with two controllers • Head to head over Wi-Fi with other phones and tablets on the same network: up to six in a room, two riding at a time. No servers, no accounts, no internet. • Touch controls, or pair an Xbox, PlayStation or MFi controller Pay once No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription, no account and no data collected. It plays offline; the only network feature is local multiplayer. In English and Spanish. Every number the game uses is in the guide at amaru.surf/how-to-playRead more

The wave takes the screen
Every heat starts with the whitewater at the left edge. While nobody is in the barrel it creeps across, and by half-time it has taken five-eighths of the screen, and the room for aerials with it. Riding fast does not stop it. Only the barrel pushes it back.
The barrel is real
Ride close to the foam and the wave opens a cavity around you, with spray pouring over you while you are in. Every second inside wins back four seconds of the wave's creep. Come out clean and the tube pays you in speed; launch off the lip while that boost lasts and you go over the wave.
Land it
The stick rotates the board and you always travel where the nose points. You get airborne by riding up over the lip, spin for the score, then straighten up before you touch down. A hint in the top bar tells you which way to push, and flattens into a bar when it is safe to land.
Six heats, three lives
Each heat has a clock and a target score, and every heat runs a faster wave and a busier face: buoys and driftwood at first, then more sharks each time. Miss the target and it costs a life.
Keep Amaru dry
When Amaru rides with you, finish the heat without a single wipeout and it pays +50%. Wipe out and he dives clear, safe, and swims off. He is never hurt. The stake is a bonus, not a dog.
Five judges, one of them useless
After every heat, five pixel faces hold up cards from 0 to 10. Four of them grade what you did. The fifth gives you a 10 no matter what.
