About
Point Lumi's camera at manga, a game, a sign, anything in Japanese, and words you haven't captured yet light up right in the viewfinder. Snap the photo, tap the ones you want, and each one turns into a flashcard that keeps the boxed photo along with it, so what you get is a memory of where you found the word, not a word floating on its own. How it works Capture boxes new words before you shoot, while anything you already know stays quiet. Unmined photos sit in the Inbox, grouped into sessions by time and place, until you're ready to go through them. Every deck reviews on its own FSRS-6 queue, the same scheduler Anki runs on, and you control both the daily new-card cap and the session cap. Dex fills in a field-guide grid of every kanji you've caught, organized by JLPT level, as you go. Works completely offline. What's on a card Furigana readings, JMdict definitions, and a spoken example come in without any typing on your part. Each card also holds onto the exact sentence it came from and the boxed photo itself, so the context never gets lost. No Anki dread You can review straight from a Home Screen widget without even opening the app. Sessions stay small on purpose, so it's fine to stop after two cards and pick it back up later. No guilt about it. Private by design Text recognition and dictionary lookups happen entirely on your device, so mining and studying never need a network connection. Your library syncs only through your own private iCloud account. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no analytics.Read more

How it works
Capture boxes new words before you shoot, while anything you already know stays quiet.
What's on a card
Furigana readings, JMdict definitions, and a spoken example come in without any typing on your part. Each card also holds onto the exact sentence it came from and the boxed photo itself, so the context never gets lost.
No Anki dread
You can review straight from a Home Screen widget without even opening the app. Sessions stay small on purpose, so it's fine to stop after two cards and pick it back up later. No guilt about it.
Private by design
Text recognition and dictionary lookups happen entirely on your device, so mining and studying never need a network connection. Your library syncs only through your own private iCloud account. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no analytics.
