About
Shopping List is a shopping list you build by speaking or typing, then send as an ordinary text message to whoever does the shopping: a partner, a grown-up child, a carer. They need no app and no account. SAY IT, OR TYPE IT Tap the microphone and say what you need. "Milk, eggs, a loaf and those biscuits Dad likes" becomes four items, and you check them before saving. On the device, where your iPhone supports it. Or type them in. SEND IT AS A MESSAGE Send list opens the usual share sheet: Messages, WhatsApp, email, whatever they read. They get plain text, grouped by aisle in walk-round-the-shop order, with the things you already have left out. No sign-up, no link, no app at their end. This way of sending is free and stays free. OR STRAIGHT TO THEIR PHONE If they have the app too, pair once by scanning a code, and the list goes straight to their phone as a list they tick off; you see what they've got as they go. Allergy warnings travel with it. It is encrypted on your phone before it leaves; nobody in between, us included, can read it. That is what Shopping List Family buys, once, for your whole family. READ ALOUD, TICKED OFF ONE-HANDED The app reads the list out while you push the trolley. Ticking off is one tap, the other hand free for the basket. Type size and background adjust. ALLERGIES, IN PLAIN WORDS Tell the app what the person you shop for cannot have: any of the fourteen allergens UK food law requires declared, as an allergy or a sensitivity, plus your own words. A matching item is marked in plain words, "ALLERGIC to eggs" or "Sensitive to onions", with something to buy instead. The warning travels inside the message and is read aloud, so the shopper sees it without the app. What you enter stays on your phone. RECIPES TOO Save a recipe from a link, a photo or a cooking video, and put its ingredients straight on the list. Cook mode shows one step at a time in large type and can read it aloud. Scale it for six instead of two; show cups as grams. YOURS, ON YOUR PHONE No account. No sign-in. Your list, recipes and allergy settings live on your device. The only server carries lists to paired phones and cannot read them. No analytics, no tracking, no third-party code. WHAT IS FREE, AND WHAT YOU PAY FOR The list, voice entry, sending as a text message, reading aloud, allergy warnings, recipes from cooking sites, cook mode, scaling and unit conversion are free and unlimited. Shopping List Family is one payment. It turns on sending straight into another person's app, and removes the monthly limit on automatic reading of photos, videos and pages with no recipe markup (free is five a month). Family Sharing means one purchase covers your whole Apple family. Sending to someone outside your family is a separate yearly subscription, with a week free first. You never need it for your own family, or for a text message. A word about the reading: it can misread handwriting, accents and awkward layouts, so check it against the original. A word about allergies: the app looks for words it knows in the names of things. It cannot see inside a ready meal or sauce, or know every brand. It flags; it never clears. An item with no warning has not been checked. For anything serious, read the packet every time. WHAT THINGS COST Shopping List Family: GBP 12.99 once, not a subscription. Sending Outside the Family: GBP 9.99 a year, after one week free. Prices in other regions are shown before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account on purchase. The yearly subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is bought. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Policy: https://sciconsystems.com/privacy/Read more
