About
Vital Growth plots your child's height and weight on the same CDC growth charts a paediatrician uses, and tells you what the numbers mean. It was built by a physician on published references, and it names every one of them. It is the growth app that does not promise your child will get taller — because no app can do that, and the ones that say otherwise are selling you something else. WHAT YOU GET, FREE, FOREVER • The full CDC 2000 growth chart, every percentile curve, for height, weight and BMI • Your child's exact percentile, in a sentence you can read out loud • Growth rate, compared against published typical rates for their age and sex • Referral prompts — anything in your child's measurements worth raising with a doctor, and which checks were run • Sleep, activity, breakfast and calcium, measured against AASM, WHO and the calcium DRI, quoted as published • Every measurement you enter, and its full history, editable and yours • How this works: the arithmetic behind every figure, with its source Nothing that might send your family to a clinician is behind a payment. That is a rule, not a launch offer. WHAT THE PAID VERSION ADDS • Adult height prediction using Khamis-Roche, shown as a range with its 90% prediction interval — never as a single number • Remaining growth, and roughly where your child sits relative to their growth spurt (Moore 2015) • A one-page PDF for a clinician: measurements, percentiles and anything worth raising, in the form a doctor reads FOR TEENS, TOO From 13, you can set this up for yourself. The whole app is written twice — once for a parent tracking a child, once for a young person tracking their own growth — because being talked about in the third person in an app about your own body is its own small insult. It will tell you what the data says, including when the honest answer is "mostly genetics, and a lot of what looks like a difference at your age is timing". WHAT THIS APP WILL NOT DO • It will not tell you how to get taller. Nothing does. • It will not give you a single confident number for adult height. The method has a real error and the app shows it. • It will not colour your child's percentile green or amber. Healthy children sit at every percentile, and a chart that judges is an anxiety machine. • It will not send your child's data anywhere. See below. YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE Names, dates of birth, measurements, parents' heights and habits are written to one file on your phone. They are never uploaded, never shared, and never used to train anything. There is no account and nothing to sign in to. Sleep read from Apple Health, if you turn it on, is stored the same way. The app reads sleep only and never writes to Apple Health. If you buy a subscription, our payments provider is told which product was bought so the app can recognise the purchase on your next device. It is given no name, no email and nothing about your child.
