About
Wood Genie turns a parts list into a shopping list. Type the pieces you need and Wood Genie works out which boards and sheets to buy, how to cut them, and what it all costs — on iPhone and iPad. Cut List • Start from a template — cutting board, bookshelf, coffee table, blanket chest, base cabinet, plywood shelving, drawer boxes — or a blank list. Every template is editable. • Enter dimensions the way you read a tape: 3/4, 1 1/2, or 1-1/2. Decimal inches and millimeters too. • 13 hardwood and softwood species, 14 sheet materials, plus hardware and finish as line items. • Scale a whole project up or down and every part follows. Cut Plan • See exactly which boards and sheets to buy, and where each piece comes from. • Layouts allow for your blade kerf — ripped to width, then crosscut to length. • Offcut waste is measured from the actual layout, not guessed at. • If a different stock length would waste less, the plan tells you. Costs and Quotes • Prices start from estimates for seven regional lumber markets in the U.S. Type your own supplier quote over any of them. • Totals broken down by species, sheet, and hardware — in board feet or cubic meters, in your currency. • Bid sheet for client work: labor lines, material markup, fees, tax, deposit, validity, and terms. Print it detailed, or as one total with your terms and nothing else. Share • Print or export a PDF of the cut list, cut plan, shopping list, or all three in one document. • Printouts include checkboxes to tick off parts at the saw and species at the yard. • Save projects, duplicate them, and back up your whole library to a single file. Private by Default Wood Genie works entirely on your device. No account, no upload, no data collected. A note on prices: the built-in figures are regional estimates, not live quotes. Enter your supplier's numbers when you need a total you can hand to a client.Read more
