About
Lifeline draws the years of ground you have covered from the timeline Google Maps already keeps on your phone. Export it from Google Maps, share it to Lifeline, and the map fills in: everywhere you have been as heat, the day under your finger as a line, flights as arcs across the globe. Then press Play. The marker runs your route at whatever speed you like, the camera leads it, the line grows behind it, and an aircraft or a train carries it where you flew or took the rails. Pick a trip and play only that. Pick a day and see where it went. Trips are found for you: every stretch away from home, named for where you stayed. Places are counted: how often, how long. The strip along the bottom is your whole history, one bar per week. Tap a moment, drag a stretch. Nothing leaves your phone. The export is read once, on the device, and only the map's own tables are kept. There is no account, no analytics, no location permission: Lifeline never reads where you are now, only where you have been. The only thing it fetches from the internet is the basemap, and the basemap never learns your coordinates. How to export: in Google Maps, tap your picture, then Your timeline, then the three dots, then Location & privacy settings, then Export Timeline data. Share the file to Lifeline. The app walks you through it the first time.Read more

The replay now moves at the speed you set, on every day and every train, and pauses where you stayed. A flight whose landing was the only position before a gap is flown again instead of crawled. The replay starts at 10 km/s. The app no longer carries or shows a made-up sample year.
