About

Somebody has tipped out the toy box. Two hundred green plastic soldiers stand in rank and file on the nursery carpet. Tanks roll across the rug, aircraft take off from the bookshelf, and at the front of it all stands General Grünspan. Anna has a unicorn that can secretly fly, and a pouch full of foam darts. That will have to do. WHAT IT IS A side-scroller for children. You fly, you dodge, you throw. Whatever gets hit topples over or tumbles to the ground. It is plastic – nobody comes to harm, and there is no blood anywhere in this game. WHAT IS IN IT • 25 levels from the nursery carpet through the kitchen, the garden, the playground and the attic all the way into the toy box • Four sections per level, each starting at a checkpoint – lose your hearts and you carry on from there, not from the beginning • A commander at the end of every level: field tank, rumbling helicopter, air fleet – and in level 25 General Grünspan himself in his wind-up colossus, with three phases • Five kinds of dart to find: sucker, scatter, whistler, and the mega dart that goes straight through • Shield, star, feather, magnet, hearts and sugar bombs • An enemy army with its own ideas: trucks that unload two soldiers when they fall, medics that patch up the nearest wreck, and throwers that lob darts right back at you TWO WAYS TO PLAY Anna rides Zuckerwatte along the ground and bounces off the ceiling. Papa flies his model jet up high and bounces off the floor. The same level, read upside down – and the two play quite differently. WHO IT IS FOR For children who already know their way around a game, and for grown-ups sitting next to them. Three difficulty settings. Nothing is taken away, there is no time limit, and every level you have unlocked stays unlocked. CONTROLS With a finger: put it down anywhere and drag. On a phone the game runs inside a drawn handheld. A controller works too, menus included. On a computer, the keyboard. TWO LANGUAGES English and German, chosen on first start and switchable in the menu at any time. WHAT IS NOT IN IT No ads. No purchases. No account. No data collection. The app needs no internet and does not ask for it – it makes no network connection at all. Your progress stays on the device. The sequel to "Zuckerrausch". Made in Germany by www.MAI-DIGITAL.de.Read more

SMOOTHER ON OLDER DEVICES The game was drawing every frame with more work than it needed. Two things changed, and both were measured on an inexpensive phone rather than guessed at a desk: finished shapes are no longer kept in memory – on a phone that cost several times more than it saved – and the picture now sits exactly on the screen's pixels. SHARPER The picture used to land one pixel beside its place, so the screen had to rescale it in every single frame: needless work, and softer than it had to be. Now it sits where it belongs.
