About

Podcast Filter lets a parent review a podcast episode before a child hears it, and prepare a version containing only what the parent approved. HOW IT WORKS Search Apple's podcast directory and pick the episode you are deciding about. Request an analysis - you are quoted the cost first. The episode is transcribed with timings, and passages are flagged against the categories you care about. Work through the findings. Every flagged moment comes with the surrounding transcript, so you can see whether a word is a throwaway or the point of the segment, and you can play the original audio of that passage to hear the tone for yourself. Choose what comes out. Turn a whole category off, keep one individual example and remove the rest, or widen and narrow the boundary around any cut. Then approve the result for a named child. Approval is a separate, deliberate step: saving your filter choices does not put anything in a child's library. WHAT YOU CAN REVIEW FOR Language. Sexual content. Violence. Substance use. Irreverent use of God's or Jesus's name, kept separate from prayer and ordinary religious discussion. Explicit references to sexual orientation and gender identity. Each is a rule you switch on, never one applied on your behalf. FOR YOUR FAMILY Pair a child's own iPhone with a code, or use the child area on a shared one. Children see only the episodes you approved for them, and can download for offline listening. Siblings are kept separate. The child side has no unrestricted player, no original clips, and no access to the full findings or transcript. Returning to the parent side requires signing in. HONEST LIMITS Automated analysis is not complete. It can miss a passage or flag one you would have kept - your review is the control that matters. Only spoken words are analysed, so music, sound effects and tone alone are not detected. A copy already downloaded to a child's device keeps working under the approval it was given until that device reconnects and synchronises; the app shows you what each device has acknowledged. Podcast Filter governs its own library and does not restrict other apps or the rest of the phone. PRICING Credits, not a subscription. One credit covers an hour of episode, and longer episodes cost proportionally more. A credit is spent only when you request an analysis - never for listening, changing your filters, or approving an episode for another child. An analysis that fails returns its credit automatically. Podcast Filter is developed from a conservative, traditional Christian view of what parents should be able to decide for their own children. That shapes which rules exist. It does not decide anything for you.Read more
