About

Photograph a surface. Pick the exact spot you care about. Photograph another one later — a different wall, a different day, a tin of paint in a shop — and pick a spot in that one too. ColorsMatcher tells you how close they really are, as a plain percentage, not a guess by eye. WHAT IT MEASURES The colour difference is CIEDE2000 (ΔE00), the standard perceptual colour formula — not a naive RGB distance, which disagrees with what your eyes see on saturated colours. Alongside the percentage you get the plain-language verdict and the signed Lab deltas, so you can see how two colours differ: lighter, more muted, or a genuine shift in hue. A phone camera is not a spectrophotometer, and this app does not pretend otherwise. What it does about that: - Mark a white reference — a sheet of paper, a grey card — in both photos, and the app works out what each light was doing and takes it off both before comparing. This is the one thing that makes two photos from two places actually comparable, and the app can find a good candidate for you. - ProRAW is used automatically wherever your phone supports it, with the camera's own scene-dependent tone curve switched off — the same surface against a light background and a dark one should measure the same, and with ordinary photos it often does not. - Capture settings are recorded with every photo, and Compare tells you when two shots were taken under meaningfully different light, or when a patch is blown out, too dark, or straddling an edge — before it lets a number near you. THREE SCREENS Capture — live preview, a centre reticle with a live readout so you can watch the colour settle before you shoot, one-tap shutter. Library — everything you have shot, plus anything imported from Photos. Tap any photo to read its exact colour: hex, RGB, HSV, Lab, chroma, hue. Compare — pick two photos, or the same photo twice, and pick a spot in each. Comparisons save themselves and reopen later. Share a result as a card image, a line of text, or a CSV row; the whole history exports as one spreadsheet. WHO THIS IS FOR Matching paint. Checking whether a replacement part is really the same colour. Settling an argument about whether two whites are the same white. Anyone who has stood in a shop holding a phone photo of their wall, wondering if the tin in front of them is close enough. PRIVACY Nothing leaves your phone. No account, no analytics, no server — the app has nothing to send anywhere and asks for nothing but the camera and, only if you choose to import a photo, your photo library.Read more
