About
Dayportrait is a time log where a day always adds up to 24 hours. Not "how long did this task take" — where did the day go. Every hour you write down is one hour the day can no longer spend somewhere else, because entries cannot overlap. That rule is enforced when the record is written, not suggested by the interface, which is why a day here can never total 26 hours. TWO EQUAL WAYS TO RECORD · Start something now and let it run. · Or paint it in later — hold anywhere on the day and drag. Neither is the "real" way. Backfilling is not a repair; it is how most people actually record a day. THE HOURS YOU DIDN'T WRITE DOWN They are not a debt. Dayportrait has no coverage score, no streak, no red badge counting what you missed. An empty evening is a fact about your day, not a failure — and an app that rewards coverage teaches people to paint plausible fake days. ONE SPINE, AND OPTIONAL DETAIL Every entry gets an Area and an Activity — one tap. Anything else (who you were with, where, which project) is an optional second beat that never blocks finishing. THE YEAR YOU GET BACK The point of writing it down is reading it later. Dayportrait turns a year of hours into a portrait — one page, one sentence, one number, one shape — not a table you have to interpret. YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE No account. No server. No analytics. Nothing to sign up for and nothing to leak. DAYPORTRAIT PRO Everything you record stays free. Pro is for looking back past a day — a month by companion, a year by activity, the extra portrait cards. Pro Yearly is $9.99 a year (auto-renews until cancelled; cancel any time in your Apple Account settings) or Pro Lifetime is $29.99, paid once. Both include Family Sharing. Not "how long did this task take" — where did the day go. Every hour you write down
is one hour the day can no longer spend somewhere else, because entries cannot
overlap. That rule is enforced when the record is written, not suggested by the
interface, which is why a day here can never total 26 hours.
TWO EQUAL WAYS TO RECORD
· Start something now and let it run.
· Or paint it in later — hold anywhere on the day and drag.
Neither is the "real" way. Backfilling is not a repair; it is how most people
actually record a day.
THE HOURS YOU DIDN'T WRITE DOWN
They are not a debt. Dayportrait has no coverage score, no streak, no red badge
counting what you missed. An empty evening is a fact about your day, not a
failure — and an app that rewards coverage teaches people to paint plausible
fake days.
ONE SPINE, AND OPTIONAL DETAIL
Every entry gets an Area and an Activity — one tap. Anything else (who you were
with, where, which project) is an optional second beat that never blocks
finishing.
THE YEAR YOU GET BACK
The point of writing it down is reading it later. Dayportrait turns a year of hours
into a portrait — one page, one sentence, one number, one shape — not a table
you have to interpret.
YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
No account. No server. No analytics. Nothing to sign up for and nothing to leak.
DAYPORTRAIT PRO
Everything you record stays free. Pro is for looking back past a day — a month by
companion, a year by activity, the extra portrait cards. Pro Yearly is $9.99 a year
(auto-renews until cancelled; cancel any time in your Apple Account settings) or
Pro Lifetime is $29.99, paid once. Both include Family Sharing.
