Rainbow's End Float Plan

Your boat is overdue, and someone ashore has to act. Rainbow’s End Float Plan hands them a PDF that says whom to call, in what order, with your numbers already in it. Fill in the boat once. Before each trip, add the itinerary and the time you’ll be overdue, tap Share PDF, and send the plan to someone reliable ashore. The app follows the Coast Guard Auxiliary’s float plan form, grouped the way a sailor thinks. A GUIDE FOR THE PERSON ASHORE — The PDF opens with a boxed guide addressed to whoever holds it. If you haven’t checked in by your deadline, it tells them to call the boat, then each shore contact in order, then the rescue authority, with your numbers filled in. It tells them to report only what they know. Nobody has to search a form while worried. YOUR BOATS, REMEMBERED — Enter a vessel once and she’s saved: name and hailing port, registration and hull ID, length, draft, colors, the features someone would spot from the air, and what drives her. Keep as many boats as you sail and switch with a tap. New trip keeps the boat, the people, and the contacts, and clears the itinerary. WHAT A SEARCH ASKS FOR — Radios, the channels you monitor, call sign and MMSI. Distress signals, navigation gear, EPIRB and PLB numbers, raft, exposure suits, and days of food and water aboard. The skipper and everyone aboard, each with age, phone, personal flotation device (PFD), and a note for medical needs. If you trailer in, the tow vehicle and where it’s parked. Empty fields stay off the PDF. WHERE YOU’RE BOUND — The itinerary leg by leg: where you depart and when, where you arrive and when, and a check-in time for each stop. Then your shore contacts in calling order, the rescue authority for where you’re going, and one deadline after which you are overdue. BUILT TO BE USED — Every button, field, and checkbox is sized for a wet thumb. The text grows with your iPhone’s text size setting. It follows your phone’s light or dark mode. WHAT IT WON’T DO — It won’t ask for a subscription: you buy it once. It won’t use your location; every place in your plan is one you typed. It won’t file anything with the Coast Guard. A float plan goes to a person ashore, and you close it by telling them you’re home. We built it aboard our ketch Rainbow, for the trips when someone ashore is waiting to hear from us. Fully offline. No account, no server of ours, no tracking; nothing you enter ever leaves your device unless you export it yourself.
