About

Terralog is a travel journal that lives on your phone. You set your starting point, then your stops. The app maps out the route, distances and travel times, and tells you when a day’s itinerary no longer makes sense. At each stop, you can add whatever you like: a note, photos, a sound clip or a video. WHAT STAYS WITH YOU Your stops, photos, notes and budget are all stored on your device. As long as you don’t share anything, nothing leaves your phone. NO ACCOUNT No registration, no password, no email address. A first name — or a nickname — a six-digit code and a phrase of your own choosing. The device keeps only fingerprints of these: those three words reopen your journal on another phone, and no one can retrieve them, not even us. NO NETWORK Download a map of your area before you set off: it fits on your phone, and the app keeps working even where there’s no signal. Two ways to download it — a 10-kilometre strip along your route, or the area you’re looking at — and a detail slider that tells you the size before you download. WHEN YOU SHARE You send a link to whoever you like. What you publish is sent in encrypted form from your phone, and the decryption key travels within the link, never via our server. Each link is personalised and can be revoked individually. WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT A souvenir album, an illustrated leaflet, a slideshow, a daily journal, a stand-alone website that opens without us. Everything is exported into a file that you keep. NINETEEN LANGUAGES The app is available in nineteen languages, with Arabic and Persian displayed from right to left. A voice-guided tour shows you the actual buttons and waits for your gestures. WHAT WE WON’T SAY That the product is secure, nor that it is out of reach. No external audit has been carried out, and the app is young. What is written here can be verified in our code and on our server — that is all we claim.Read more
