About

What makes Calorie Snap different: - Saved at the shutter: the meal is on Home the moment the photo is taken, and the AI analysis finishes in the background. Close the Analyzing screen (X) and keep using the app, even open the camera for the next meal while the first is still analyzing. - Works offline: snap a meal in Airplane Mode and it is saved right away (Home shows an "Offline" banner), then analyzed automatically once back online. - On-device food check: before anything is uploaded, Apple Vision on the iPhone checks that the photo shows food or drink. Photos it flags show "No food detected", are not uploaded and do not use a free scan. - Traceable numbers: the AI only names the foods, splits dishes into ingredients and estimates portion weight; it never returns calories. Calories and macros are calculated on the iPhone from a food database built mainly on USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. Tap an analyzed meal to see each ingredient's grams, kcal and source line (e.g. "grams: estimated · kcal: preset"); portions are editable in grams. - Only AI photo scans (after 5 free) need a subscription. Manual logging ("Add manually" on Home, with on-device smart search that handles typos and works offline), fasting, water, widgets and CSV/PDF export are free. - Built into iOS: a "Snap Food" control (Control Center or Action button) and a Lock Screen widget open the camera; the "Your Meals" Home Screen widget logs a usual meal in one tap; Siri phrases such as "Snap food with Calorie Snap"; a running fast shows as a Live Activity (Lock Screen and Dynamic Island). No sign-in is needed: the app creates an anonymous account automatically on first launch (no email or password; first launch needs internet), so no demo account is needed. How to review: 1. On the welcome screen, a notice directly above "Get Started" says meal photos are analyzed by a third-party AI (Google Gemini), with links to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy; tapping "Get Started" records the user's permission (guideline 5.1.2(i)). It can be turned off anytime in Settings > About > Data & Privacy > "AI photo analysis"; the camera then asks (Allow / Not now) before any photo is sent. 2. Answer the short onboarding questions to get a calorie plan. Onboarding ends with the subscription screen; close it with the X in the top-left corner (it appears after 3 seconds) to continue on the free plan. 3. Tap "+" (Add meal) in the tab bar to open the camera; camera access is requested only on this first tap. Photograph any food (or pick one from the library). The photo is uploaded to our servers (api.calsn.app) and analyzed; the meal shows on Home with calories and macros. If the app is unsure, or a meal is over 600 kcal, a short review card appears ("Confirm", "Got it" or "Keep this guess"); a meal awaiting confirmation doesn't count toward the day. 4. Manual logging ("Add manually" on Home) works without AI. Subscriptions: 5 free AI photo scans per new user, then the paywall appears. It also opens from the "Get Pro" badge next to the Home, Fasting and Settings titles, and from Settings > Subscription > "Upgrade". Weekly is $3.99/week with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers; Yearly is $39.99/year. With the trial, the paywall shows "Due today $0.00" plus the date and amount of the first charge. "Restore" is at the top-right of the paywall; "Restore purchases" and "Manage subscription" are in Settings > Subscription. The paywall links Terms of Use and Privacy Policy at the bottom; Settings > About also has Subscription Terms. Account deletion: Settings > Account > "Delete Account" permanently deletes the account and its data (meals, photos, profile, weights, water, fasting) from the device, our database and our photo storage. It doesn't cancel an App Store subscription. Calorie and nutrition values are estimates, not medical advice. Contact: support@calsn.appRead more
