About
Horse Rider is for the person who does the yard as well as the riding. THE FEET A vaccination lapses once a year and the vet writes to you. The farrier is due every six weeks, nobody writes, and a fortnight over is a horse long in the toe with a shoe about to come off in the field. One card per horse: shod or barefoot, the cycle it is on, when it is next due, and the log behind that. The due date is arithmetic on the visits that actually reset the cycle, so a lost shoe tacked back on last Tuesday does not buy you another six weeks. Costs sit on the rows, and the card totals the last twelve months — the largest predictable cost of keeping a horse, and a number nobody can otherwise produce. THE FEED CHART A feed chart exists because somebody else reads it. Grouped into morning, midday, evening and late night, with the amount to the left of the feed name because that is the thing being measured out, and the note on the line it belongs to — "soak for fifteen minutes" is useless anywhere else. Amounts are words, not grams: one scoop, half a Stubbs, two slices. Copy a chart onto another horse and adjust the one thing that differs. THE TACK ROOM A saddle is fitted to a horse at one moment in that horse's life, and the horse then changes shape. A saddle that fitted in March is a pressure point in September, and the horse reports it by napping, which gets read as behaviour. So each piece carries a check interval where one makes sense — six months for a saddle, a year for a girth, none for a numnah — and one tap marks it checked today. RIDING OUT Track a ride and the route draws itself as you go, with distance, time and pace. Mark what happened along the way, in words or spoken aloud. Plan a ride, and it shows on the dashboard and in the month view. THE RECORD Passport number, microchip, height, colour and markings, jabs and worming with their due dates, the yard, the vet and the insurer. What has lapsed says so on the dashboard before you go looking. FIRST AID Colic, laminitis, choke, wounds — what to do right now, searchable, sorted, and clear that it is reference rather than a vet. The emergency number is at the top of the screen. WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES On the phone. The horses, the rides, the photographs and the notes are in the app's own storage and are never uploaded. No account to make, no cloud, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The one thing that ever leaves the device is an email address, and only if you type one in to claim access that has been granted to it. A PIN lock if you want one, light and dark, miles or kilometres, hands or centimetres. SUBSCRIPTION Horse Rider Full Access unlocks the subscriber features. Two lengths: Monthly (one month) and Quarterly (three months). The price is shown in the app before anything is bought, and varies by country. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before that period ends. Manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the current period running. THE FEET
A vaccination lapses once a year and the vet writes to you.
THE FEED CHART
A feed chart exists because somebody else reads it.
THE TACK ROOM
A saddle is fitted to a horse at one moment in that horse's life, and the horse then changes shape. A saddle that fitted in March is a pressure point in September, and the horse reports it by napping, which gets read as behaviour. So each piece carries a check interval where one makes sense — six months for a saddle, a year for a girth, none for a numnah — and one tap marks it checked today.
RIDING OUT
Track a ride and the route draws itself as you go, with distance, time and pace. Mark what happened along the way, in words or spoken aloud. Plan a ride, and it shows on the dashboard and in the month view.
THE RECORD
Passport number, microchip, height, colour and markings, jabs and worming with their due dates, the yard, the vet and the insurer. What has lapsed says so on the dashboard before you go looking.
FIRST AID
Colic, laminitis, choke, wounds — what to do right now, searchable, sorted, and clear that it is reference rather than a vet. The emergency number is at the top of the screen.
