About

You scroll further than you think. Scrollometer takes the time you spend in the apps you choose and turns it into a distance. Not a bar chart. Not a number of minutes you will forget by lunchtime. A distance — in feet, then miles, then landmarks you have to stop and picture. Most people are somewhere around a Statue of Liberty a day. WHAT IT DOES • Today — your distance as it accumulates, with the landmark you have passed • History — how the last weeks actually looked, not how you remember them • Weekly recap — a sealed week you can share, if you want to • Methodology — the exact arithmetic behind every number, in plain language AN HONEST INSTRUMENT Scrollometer shows estimates, and it says so everywhere it shows one. iOS does not let any app watch what happens inside another app. That is a privacy protection and a good one. What iOS provides, with your permission, is how much time you spent. Scrollometer multiplies that time by how fast people typically scroll in that app and by the physical height of your screen. That is a model, not a measurement, and the app never pretends otherwise. Every total reads "at least," because Apple reports usage in whole minutes and partial minutes go uncounted. The Methodology screen shows the figure used for every app you track and where it came from. If a number looks wrong to you, you can see why. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE No account. No sign-in. No server. No analytics. No advertising. No third parties. Scrollometer contains no networking code at all — not "we don't sell your data," but there is nowhere for it to go. Everything is stored on your iPhone and is deleted when you delete the app. NO STREAKS, NO SHAMING Scrollometer will not give you a streak to break, a badge to chase, or a leaderboard to lose. The research on behaviour reduction is clear that a broken streak produces shame and then a binge, and that shame is what makes people delete the app rather than change the habit. It just tells you the number. What you do about it is yours. REQUIREMENTS iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Requires Screen Time access, which iOS asks you for during setup and which you can withdraw at any time.Read more
