About
Bloomwash is a watercolor app that behaves like the real thing. Every stroke runs through a physical simulation of water and pigment on paper, so the paint spreads, pools, granulates, and dries the way it does on a real sheet. You are not applying a filter. You are painting wet paint and watching it move. Load the brush with water and color, lay a wash, and the pigment settles into the tooth of the paper. Touch a wetter brush into a damp area and it blooms outward. Let two colors meet while they are still wet and they bleed into one another. Come back with a drier brush and the stroke breaks over the grain. What you can do: - Paint transparent watercolor with real granulation, wet in wet blooms, and edges that stay soft or turn crisp depending on how wet the paper is. - Reserve the white of the paper with masking fluid, wash freely over the top, then lift the mask to uncover clean, untouched shapes. - Set the feel with plain sliders for water, paint, drying speed, and edge darkening, or switch between Delicate, Classic, and Bold in one tap. - Mix your own colors from a palette of watercolors and opaque gouache, and pick up a color you used a moment ago from the recents strip. - Choose your sheet. Hot press is smooth, cold press has a gentle tooth, and rough gives you heavy texture. - Paint with the Apple Pencil the way you would hold a brush, with pressure and tilt shaping the mark, or use a finger. - Lift color back out of a wet wash, flick spatter, drop clean water for backruns, or scatter salt for texture. - Hold the sheet up to the light to read the paint from behind, the way you would check a painting against a window. - Keep your work in a gallery, and export a finished piece or a timelapse of how it came together. Bloomwash runs entirely on your device. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to. It suits a working painter who wants to sketch without setting out water and paper, and it is gentle enough for a first try at the medium without the mess.Read more
