Namesake - Baby Names

Every name has a story. Namesake tells it. Olive: "shuffle its five letters and they spell 'I love,' a sweet thing to find hiding in a name." Leo: "Latin for 'lion,' and also the star sign famous for needing an audience - which, for a newborn, is less a warning than a job description." That's the back of every card. Over 5,600 names, each with a line worth reading: where it came from, who made it famous, and the odd little detail that makes it stick. ONE GOOD NAME LEADS TO THE NEXT Every name points you to more you might love, two different ways: - Similar: names that sound alike. Love Leo? Try Theo or Cleo. - Actual people suggest: names real parents put forward alongside it, so you get the same feel, not just the same sound. For Leo, that's Milo, Levi and Luca. Tap any suggestion to read its story, and keep following the trail until something clicks. HOW IT WORKS With a partner: pair your phones with a quick code, then each of you swipes on your own. Keep the ones you like, pass on the rest. When you both keep the same name, it's a match. On your own: tap "Just let me in" and start swiping. Your likes are saved, and you can pair up whenever you're ready. FIND THE ONE YOU BOTH LOVE Drag your favorites into a top 10. When a name ranks high for both of you, it earns a "Both top 3," "Both top 5" or "Both top 10" pill, so you can see where you really agree, not just where you both shrugged yes. A FEW MORE THINGS - See how popular every name has been over the years. - Add your other kids' names and a middle name, and every card shows the full line. - Share your shortlist as a tidy card and let the group chat weigh in. - A daily featured name, if you want a nudge. No balloons, no clip art, no pink-or-blue. Just names, their stories, and enough quiet to think about who this person is going to be.
