Phonecast: Mix Monitor

Phonecast turns your iPhone into a real audio output for your Mac, so you can hear how your mix actually translates on a phone speaker: the most common speaker in the world, and the one most mixes fail on. This free app is the iPhone half of Phonecast. It requires the Phonecast app for Mac, which installs a normal audio output device on your Mac. Route Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, or anything that plays audio, to it, and it streams to this app over the USB cable or your local Wi-Fi. WHY IT MATTERS Studio monitors flatter the low end and stereo width that a phone speaker throws away. Exporting a bounce to check translates into minutes of lost momentum every time. Phonecast makes the phone-speaker check one click, in real time, while you mix. WHAT YOU GET • Faithful, full-fidelity 48 kHz stereo. No compression, no coloration we add • USB for tight, low-latency monitoring, or cable-free over Wi-Fi • Keeps playing when you lock the screen or switch apps • Encrypted, device-paired Wi-Fi. Only your Mac can connect, and nobody can listen in • The phone's own speaker processing intact, so you hear the true translation • No ads, no tracking. Sign in once so only your own Mac can connect. Your audio never leaves your devices REQUIRES • The Phonecast Mac app (macOS 13+), available at phonecast.app • A USB cable, or both devices on the same Wi-Fi network Not affiliated with Apple Inc.
