Buddies is a calm way to keep up with the people who matter. It is not a to-do list for your friendships. There is no pile of people you owe a message to, no streaks to keep, and no counter telling you how many days it has been. Just a suggestion when it has been a while, and somewhere to keep what happened afterwards. YOUR OWN CIRCLES Make the circles you actually have — Close, Uni, the climbing gym — and give each one a rhythm: every week, every month, every few months. A circle can also be quiet: people you want to keep, without being reminded about them. REMINDERS THAT KNOW WHEN TO STOP Buddies reminds you at an hour you choose, and at most a couple of people a day. Caught up? One tap, and the rhythm starts again. Not now? Later moves it on without a word about it. KEEP THE CATCH-UP, NOT THE SCORE Write what you did in your own words — "coffee before work", "long walk by the river" — add where it happened, and add photos afterwards, when they exist. There is no last-seen number and no tally of how often you meet. A friendship is not a streak. PLANS THAT WAIT FOR A PLACE Some plans have no date. Attach a place to one — show her the new flat, that bookshop you keep meaning to go to together — and Buddies reminds you when you are actually there.
